Blue Moon in Aries

Once in a Blue Moon when the Moon is full it will be in the same astrological sign as the previous one…it happens only once a year because there are only 12 months but a 13 Lunation Cycle. You may want to read the Full Moon in Aries blog from last mo(o)nth.

Aries can be a very dynamic sign and its association with weapons, fire and explosion can literally mean dynamite!  It is the first sign with the impulse to act and it all begins with Self. It is from that personal place of individuality that a spark is ignited giving us the energy to act.  Energy can be explosive or implosive. Being a Fire Sign it is associated with inflammation, headaches, fevers, tempers flared and anger. When this type of energy lacks a healthy outlet for positive action it can fester inside us and eventually erupt into a volcano of destruction. It is said: repression leads to depression or even compression of a valuable driving force. Sometimes we need to be quick and impulsive to fuel those desires of self-expression when restless, whether it manifests as passion, exercise or simply moving in some direction.  The planet associated with Aries is Mars. Ares was a Greek god of War however the Romans named him Mars. Mars has been referred to as the red angry planet however, that is because of its link to the sometimes chaotic and aggressive deity. The Martial Arts are a perfect example of directing energy and force in a sporting way without the needless violence.  It teaches that the best fight is no fight.

People with Aries prominent in their birth charts can be pioneers through positive action. They are passionate about whatever they do and the ambition that propels them into action may lead them to careers as firefighters, paramedics, ER workers, athletes, activists, peace corps and the military to name a few. Not all Aries types are as bold and impetuous as described above. It boils down to:  aggression vs assertion.

The Full Moon is again in Aries reflecting the Sun in Libra. In the Spring it was the opposite: the Sun was in Aries and the Full Moon in Libra. All of the energy of Spring was raw and ready to blossom into new life.  Now that energy is being used to prepare for the Season of Autumn.  The trees that blossomed months ago are now on fire with warm yellow, orange and red leaves. The amber sun sets in orange glow with black silhouettes of evening shade…giving us the colours of Samhain or Halloween. The Season of Decay.

The Sun will soon move into Scorpio where Mercury, Venus and Mars are already placed. Powerful, intense energy that can be channeled into profound transformations. May we act with conscience and be the change we seek in the world.

New Moon in Libra

October 7, 2010  11:14  am PDT

The Sun and the Moon merge in Libra. This is also the New Moon of the Sacred Union between any inharmonious energy dynamics that require our attention. We all are faced with moments in which we need to assess opposing forces in our lives and to weigh them upon the scales of Balance and Justice. Try to remove the blindfold of Injustice and see that everything is beautiful in its own way and that includes each and everyone of us.

This time the Sun and Moon are joined with Mercury (Communication/Thinking) and Saturn (Limitation/Law) in a Celestial Affair. The theme seems to be weighing the pros and cons in the search for liberty, justice, peace and harmony. In certain parts of the world the scales remain unfairly imbalanced. Social injustice is being addressed on many issues…including Libra’s realm of partnerships, equality and attraction.  Most people are familiar with the Law of Attraction but seem to negate the Law of Repulsion. When we accept that certain energy (even the energy within each of us) is sometimes repelling in order to achieve harmony and to get out of its way. Positive and Negative are both equal and neccessary charges and without them we simply can not recharge our batteries. We need to empty so that we may fill. Good/Evil, Happy/Sad, Light/Dark, Yin/Yan, Head/Heart are on the axis of opposites. Energy is ebb and flow. If the scales were completely still, they would in essence become stagnant, boring and without motion.

As the cool weather draws near and the nights grow longer, many people want to nest with a companion. Venus is blowing kisses into bubbles of thought and feeling about merging with an other. All in not fair in love and war…or so it goes. It is the perfect New Moon to deal with relationship issues on all levels, including the relationship that we experience with ourselves. Be willing to risk honesty when weighing our own heart with the feather of our own truth. Be fair when someone professes a truth that you are not in agreement with.  Each may be a truth according to their own experience and viewpoint.

If we need to refine any agreements in our intimate relations, then now is the moment to initiate them. A ritual of love and beauty can be performed in any romantic setting: A fire with lots of candles or any ambient lighting with sensual adornments like a red rose of love. Of course, who doesn’t enjoy a luxurious bubble bath infused with the most delicious aromas. Remember to look beyond the Vanity Mirror of superficial beauty and look at the many mirrors of our loved ones who also reflect our inner beauty. We all desire to be valued and loved. Are there any friends or family that you need to express your love and appreciation to?  Perhaps there has been an injustice that needs to be addressed. Can we meet upon the commonground of acceptance and not take rejection to heart?

Indeed this Lunar cycle begins with decision making. If we are the Universe’s way of knowing itself, then Peace and Harmony truly begins with each and everyone one of us.
