The Sun is in Gemini and the Moon is Full in Sagittarius. This combo says: Think Big! It seems as though everything in nature is buzzing with communication, while the days are significantly longer and warmer when we begin making plans for the summer. This is the Full Moon of Spontaneity! We need to get out of our heads and to expand our conscious awareness. Our thoughts can be direct and focused upon the goals that we aspire to achieve. What or who gets in the way of what our heart truly desires? Rather than act upon impulse…we could tap into the pulse of the One Heart. Jupiter (although retrograde) will aspire many thoughts to aim high for our personal best…depending upon whether we reach for the sky or the stars. It is all about faith…in some cases blind faith. With Saturn (Authority) in Sagittarius it will feel like a fluctuation sometimes with a rubber band effect when people push boundaries with over enthusiastic behavior without heeding to others’ limitations. It is also the Great Test of Faith. Both Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde causing a slow down slippery ahead mindset with so many setbacks that appear to be moving backward rather than forward. Jupiter is expansion and Saturn is restriction. This is very evident in the test of faith and religious intolerance that seems to be relinquishing power and losing the confidence of the people. There is a clash of energy with this placement causing a tug of war causing needless conflict in our own moral dilemma. This is being demonstrated by the recent challenges of free speech and religious freedom with the constraint of Saturn that is associated with restrictions, boundaries, governments and patriarchal institutions.

No matter our differences; we all look at the same sun and moon…

There is a wonderful Greek myth about Hercules and his mentor Chiron.  Chiron was the Wise (Sage) Centaur (half-human/half-animal) who was a Great Teacher and Healer. Teaching, post education and higher learning are all associated with Sagittarius. One day, Hercules went to seek the counsel of his Wise Teacher, where upon his arrival, he was met by a group of Centaurs that were drinking wine. In the short version of this myth, Hercules became impatient and bored due to his Teacher being absent and began to also drink some wine after refusing several offers. Later, when he was intoxicated, Hercules could hear the sound of hooves stomping upon the ground and became nervous. Lacking focus, Hercules reached for the arrows in his quiver and began to shoot aimlessly, until one of the arrows found his friend and teacher, Chiron, wounding him in his leg.  Chiron forgave Hercules for his short sighted error. Thus, Chiron came to be known as the Wounded Healer. Here was a test of one’s faith.  Full Moons tend to draw out our energy escalating into crisis and even violence when people push the limit…and some of us will want to overindulge in food and drink, but we must be careful not to hurt others while in an inebriated state. Otherwise, we may not be wise in our buoyancy and create needless crisis.

Indeed, this is the Full Moon to enjoy a social gathering in the outdoors with friends, family and colleagues. Sitting around a warm fire can imbue many philosophic conversations. Avoid too much gossip and remember; where one finger is pointing, three are pointing back. We all have our tales to tell, try to focus upon the stories that inspire. This is a fire moon that can raise the light of consciousness like a flame to illuminate the darkness of ignorance.  Remember…the Sun is always shining whether in a shroud of cloud or illuminating the other side of the planet. Both Sun and Rain give birth to all the colors of the visible light spectrum.

Sagittarius is also affiliated with the planet Jupiter which is the largest in our Solar System. Due to its size, it has been associated with joy, opportunity, expansiveness, abundance and luck. It had the potential to be another Sun in our galaxy. It is also associated with faith. When the Sun is in Sagittarius, a lot of people celebrate the Season of the Light Bringers of Faith in December. We are reminded of that faith when the light of the Full Moon in Sagittarius shines brightly in the early summer sky. Again, it will be followed by the longest days of the year. Time for summer fun! This is the Full Moon to take a leap of faith. So try to be optimystic and reach for the sky before you reach for the stars.

In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.  ~ Blaise Pascal

The Sun and Moon are once again in union with the aspiration and optimism of Sagittarius.  The New Moon can feel like a very dark place this time of year with the colder weather ushering us inside our warm homes (those of us who are blessed to have homes) and inside our body temples. Mercury (Communication) is about to enter its retrograde shadow on December 1, 2016 until it stations retrograde on December 19, 2016 until January 8, 2016 which I will post about tomorrow.
After all the intense, transformative energies of Scorpio played out in very mysterious and profound ways…we begin to feel the discipline of Saturn with its constricting rings which can test our limits and especially our faith in the sign Sagittarius. The energy seems to be shifting toward faith, goodwill and kindness. These Holy Days are celebrated in a mosaic of faith and worship of the Light in all of its radiance and glory. Sagittarius is the Sage. We seek value and meaning in the season of peace, love and joy.  This holyday season open up your heart because it is the greatest gift that anyone can give or receive.
There is a wonderful story called The Gift Of The Magi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gift_of_the_Magi  about two lovers who do not have the finances to purchase extravagant gifts for one another. In an ironic twist they make sacrifices to obtain the desired gifts but the gifts are rendered useless. It is a great story to remind ourselves of the magi within us and to follow our own shining star to the place wherein dwells our own divinity.
Sagittarius wants to express its restless energy and propel the wheel of evolution into a more expansive, multi-cultural society of inter-faith with optimism and openess.  It is a time of learning new ways to grow in personal and interpersonal ways. Now is the time to sow the seeds of our faith in ourselves and in others.  It is a time to remember the Teacher within. A time to remember the many healers and mentors in our lives. The archer aims steady allowing the arrow of ambition to make its mark.Sagittarius is also affiliated with the planet Jupiter which is the largest in our Solar System. Due to its size, it has been associated with joy, opportunity, expansiveness, abundance and luck. It had the potential to be another Sun in our Solar System. It is also associated with faith. When the Sun is in Sagittarius, a lot of people celebrate the Season of the Light Bringers of Faith in December. Astronomically and Astrologically we are reminded of that faith when the light of the Sun is reborn at Winter’s Solstice. The Sun appears to standstill as it sets on the southwest horizon marking the shortest day of the year while the Earth’s axis begins its journey toward longer days of warmth and light. In the Nativity story the Three Magi use both astronomy and astrology to mark the date, time and place of  the birth of the Christ Child. They traveled afar being from foreign lands bearing gifts of the Sage. Here we are reminded of the torch bearers of the Light and the archetypes of Sagittarius (travelers, foreigner, wisdom seeker, keeper of the faith and opportunist). Hanukkah begins on December 24, 2016 with the lighting of the Menorah which is another tradition of ushering the Light into the Dark time of the year.

Express your enthusiasm with the gratitude of the abundance that we may receive…and remember to share your blessings…whether as a Random Act of Kindness…an encouraging word…a gentle touch…a warm embrace…just aim from the heart and shoot for the stars! However you celebrate the holyday season may it be filled with Light, Laughter and Love.

Harvest Moon

The Sun in Virgo (work, health and service) has fully waxed the lunar light of this Full Moon in Pisces (sensitive, spiritual, artistic) reflecting our need to transcend the ego by letting go and surrendering. Earth meets Water. Nature sacrifices its many fruits and vegetables that let go of the tree and the earth…to be consumed…so that it may perpetuate the cycle of life. The grape is ready to be plucked from the vine and changed into wine as we dine and surrender to what is divine to each of us in the coming season of thanksgiving for what we have sown.

Neptune (Illusion) is also in Pisces which is the Sign that it rules. Chiron (the Wounded Healer) is conjunct in Pisces too.  This may make for a very sensitive time with the dreamy…imaginative…romantic Moon. The opposition of the Sun and Moon during this time of the year reflects the mood of people gearing down from the high tide of Summer as they slowly Fall back into work, school, etc. The imagination will shine through for many who will channel this power energy into creative works of art, music and poetry.

Pisces is the last Sign of the Astrological Year and is depicted in symbolism as two fish. In ancient times the symbol for Pisces was the Dolphin which was associated with Apollo the Greek Sun God. Dolphins have been connected messengers to the divine. Water is an element that changes into many forms. The Dolphin is a mammal that dives deep into the subconscious realms while also transcending and surfacing into the conscious realm of air. This is a very sensitive Sign but don’t confuse it for weakness because the dolphin knows how to bring down a shark. The symbol of the Two Fish demonstrate Duality and is probably why a lot of persons with Sun, Moon or Ascendant in Pisces are considered to be wishy washy. Those persons with a Pisces prominent in their chart tend to dive deep into there own fantasy world often being inspired to be creative in music, poetry and the arts….while some swim in murky waters of excess drowning their sorrows in ailments. They are great storytellers and also crafty at telling tall tales that they convince themselves to be true.

Neptune is associated with Pisces (the Peacemaker) and is now in the sign it rules Pisces…so his trident may stir things up in the subconscious…so there may be a need to surrender the ego to a Higher Power…be it God/dess, the Divine or Great Mystery. It also relates to illusion, fantasy and daydreams. In our need to connect with the Divine we may choose to consume intoxicants in order to relax and let go. Here is where we may heed to the words Nothing In Excess. It is said that Pisces is associated with the fermented grape and is the origin of the saying: drinks like a fish.

Here is the Full moon to gather with family and friends to celebrate the last days of summer by feasting, drinking, dancing and sharing our stories experienced during the Season of the Sun. We have opportunity to be sensitive toward the suffering of others and to share our joy in a mutual and beneficial way. Remember: Transcendence is the key word for this watery moon…Escape into the fantasy realm of dreams… This is the time when the tree begins to let go of her fruit to continue the cycle of life…sweet September Harvest…Letting Go is the feeling of this moon… scribe poetry…sing a song from your soul… dance to the beat of the One Heart… if you feel like a fish out of water then swim in the ethereal realm… if you feel like a fish in water then dive deep into the cosmic sea of your unconscious mind…remember…life is but a dream… if you can be by the water do so and share your creative gifts with loved ones…trust that the universe is unfolding as it should… lift up your holy grail to the moon and drink of her luminous light!

Note: when the Moon is transiting a particular Sign it is like a mirror reflecting the mood of  that Sign and may be felt on a more emotional level. Ec;ipses are symbolic of not overshadowing others light or your light being eclipsed by another.

Be mindful of overwhelming others with ego desires by being assertive rather than aggressive. It is easy for things to heat up but with Saturn (Duty) in Sagittarius it will feel like an abrupt fluctuation like a rubber band effect when people push boundaries with over enthusiastic behavior and without heeding to others’ boundaries. The Sun and Moon are conjunct in the Water Sign Pisces beginning a new lunation cycle with a New Moon. There is also a Total Solar Eclipse at 5:57 pm  PST. The Sun (our motivation), Moon (our mood), Mercury (Communication), Neptune (our imagination and ruler of Pisces…a planet that also has rings…part of its allusion and illusion)…with Chiron (our healing) are all transiting the Sign of the Peacemaker. Personally, I believe nothing in excess is the key to planning our Great Escape here. There will also be a Total Solar Eclipse. We are arriving at the Vernal Equinox of 12 hrs of Light and 12 hrs of Darkness…  the balance and harmony of the seasons as the light overcomes the dark in the Northern Hemisphere. Marking the diurnal cycle of night and day and the cycles of the seasons. It is a New Moon in Pisces with the Sun and Moon conjunct and a total eclipse of the Sun during the Equinox. We begin with 0 degrees Aries the first day of spring and the beginning of the astrological new year. During solar eclipses we need to be mindful of not standing in the light of others. it is equally important not to be eclipsing our own light… or allowing others to overshadow our Light.

We want to make our daydreams a reality so when the time comes to surrender to a higher power…our emotions can feel like a calm stream or a raging flood. Pisces has the Two Fish as its symbol. It has been said that this is the origin of the sayings: drinks like a fish or to get sloshed.  Pisces Energy is so sensitive that it can be like an emotional sponge taking on the suffering of others. A lot of Spiritual Advisers, Counselors, Therapists, Psychologists, etc. have Pisces prominent in their chart. Like most sensitive types, there needs to be caution when making sacrifices for others at the expense of one’s own self as it can become easy to fall into the Messiah Trap and become the Martyr.  Yet complete surrender of our own ego to help another is an escape from ourselves. Think of the Symbol of the Two Fish as Opposites.  There are moments when we need to dive deep into our subconscious sea to discover the secret treasures that are buried there, yet it is also important to surface and breathe life into what was discovered in the depths of the imagination. It was Albert Einstein who said:” Imagination is far greater than knowledge.” Daring to be different…to swim against the current flow of consensus reality has been a struggle for many spiritual beings.  So Pisces is the Sign of the Dreamer, Storyteller, Poet, Artist, Musician and Mystic. (Dionysius, Christ, Buddha are a few of the many Peace Makers that came to Earth to Sacrifice, a word that means: to make sacred.) This reminds me of the ancient story of the Boy and the Dolphin:

In Ancient Greece there are many artifacts adorned with a Boy and a Dolphin. Many cultures had the Dolphin rather than the Two Fish that appear in our modern day Zodiac. Today, some people still use the Two Dolphins as a symbol for Pisces. Anyway, the story is about a boy who feeds a dolphin that begins a beautiful friendship. They would meet everyday and play in the ocean until sunset. The boy was seen blissfully riding upon the Dolphin.  Some say that the boy was an orphan….One day the Dolphin came in search of his friend only to discover that the child had drowned. The Dolphin carried his friend to shore and remained there with the boy where it also died. To this day Dolphins are known to pair bond for life and to take an ailing companion to shore and remain with it until the end.

Here we have the Compassion, Love and Sacrifice of the Martyr: the one who feels the profound pain and suffering of others.  It is important to be empathetic and sympathetic, to place one’s foot in someone else’s flipper, so to speak. To offer unconditional love takes great courage and compassion. We also discover the theme of  Letting Go in the story of the Boy and the Dolphin.  In Letting Go we are able to transcend the obstacles that hold us back.  Too many tears can cause us to drown in an ocean of self-pity. When the heart is full, the eyes overflow. Perhaps this is the New Moon of releasing some of that repressed emotion. Repression leads to depression. Time to make an impression!  We are all connected whether we are able to accept it or not. There is no such thing as being completely independent because we are all interdependent.  We live in a society that is drowning in the deception of grandiose illusion. People are so willing to let go of friends and lovers while they desperately hold on to objects that they really do not need and most likely do not want.  An open hand can contain more water than a closed fist. The Dark Wizards of so-called success brainwash people into a belief system that instills a competitive edge to be Number One.  Nothing can be ONE all the time. Each number has a significant and relative value. I don’t believe that we are meant to be what we are, but who we are.  All is One.  There is no such thing as a Peaceful War in a Military sense. There is no way to peace, Peace is the way…Pisces is Peace.  It is the Peace Maker. We can protest war by shouting: Peace in the Middle East!  It is the angry and wounded person who is not at peace and would attempt to take a piece out of you. However, we need to make peace with those disowned aspects of ourselves. When we are at peace with our own humanity we are able to be at peace with others.

Is there someone you need to forgive?  Or a situation that you need to let go of?  This is a great Moon Cycle to begin the journey in healing ourselves and others. Forgiveness releases old wounds for everyone involved.  In forgiving ourselves we are better able to forgive others.  Is there someone that you know who needs some kind of support?  Take the time to let others know that you care. I personally love Random Acts of Kindness. This is a wonderful Moon to be in the water or even near it.  Be like the Dolphins and breathe in that salty sea air!  It is a night to use your imagination and create masterpieces of art, music and poetry. Pisces rules the feet which also makes it the Sign of the Dancer. What a relaxing way to let go by dancing to some amazing music to induce a trance-like state of being. Be careful not to drown in the haze of illusions. Neptune the planet associated with Pisces (Dreams and Illusions) was God of the Oceans and his daughters were the Mermaids. Neptune used his Trident to stir up the sea, just like hallucinogenic drugs can stir up the subconscious sea and cause some of us to sink into a whirlpool of despair.

The Sacred Oracle at Delphi (Dolphin) in Ancient Greece had inscribed above the Temple Threshold: Know Thyself and Nothing In Excess.

So, this is the last New Moon of the Astrological Year. The last New Moon of winter.

Remember the song: Row, row, row your boat…gently down the stream…
merrily, merrily, merrily…life is but a dream…so are the Salmon dreaming when they swim against the stream returning to their place of birth? All rivers lead to the ocean. So Let Go and Flow!  Transcend the Ego and feel your self floating upon the sea of Peace, Love and Compassion.

Note: When the Sun and Moon are conjunct it is called a New Moon or to some a Dark Moon because it is not visible. Sometimes a rare phenomenon we know as a Total Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon crosses directly in front of the Sun blocking its light transforming day into night. To the ancients this foretold of a bad omen or some misfortune. Today astrologers are less superstitious and will most likely tell you how a Solar Eclipse can affect a certain area in your astrological birth chart. An eclipse can symbolize a major change for some. Astronomers are able to study the corona or crown of rays around the Sun moreso during an eclipse. It is a reminder of not overshadowing others by standing in the way of their light… And not allowing others to eclipse our own light. It is very symbolic of not seeing the whole picture, temporary blindness, or being in the dark over an important matter…and importantly “this too shall pass”. It portends change…especially during the New Moon in Pisces ending the current lunation cycle which began on the New Moon in Aquarius early February which represents change.

From Earth perspective it is a very enchanting event if one is able to view it from where they are. This eclipse is only visible in Southeast Asia.

New Moon in Libra

libra

October 12, 2015  5:05 PM  PDT

… there is a universal justice ~ and the eyes of truth are always watching…

The Sun (Core) and the Moon (Mood) merge in the Air Sign Libra seeking balance and harmony with self and with others. Mercury (Communication) has just transited into Libra and is also moving out of retrograde which may release some of the inner and outer conflict that many seem to be experiencing on a profound level recently. This is also the New Moon of the Sacred Union between any inharmonious energy dynamics that require our attention. We all are faced with moments in which we need to assess opposing forces in our lives and to weigh them upon the scales of Balance and Justice. Try to remove the blindfold of Injustice and see that everything is beautiful in its own way and that includes each and everyone of us. The mood seems to be one of fluctuation…weighing the pros and cons in the search for liberty, justice, peace and harmony. In certain parts of the world the scales remain unfairly imbalanced. Social injustice is being addressed on many issues…and seems to come round again when the sun and moon are conjunct in Libra …including Libra’s realm of partnerships, equality, equity and attraction.

Most people are familiar with the Law of Attraction but seem to negate the Law of Repulsion. When we accept that certain energy (even the energy within each of us) is sometimes repelling in order to achieve harmony and to accept its unique way. Positive and Negative are both equal and necessary charges and without them we simply can not recharge our batteries. We need to empty so that we may fill. Good/Evil, Happy/Sad, Light/Dark, Sparse/Dense, Yin/Yang, Head/Heart are on the axis of opposites. Movement is ebb and flow. If the scales were completely still, they would in essence become stagnant, boring and without motion.

Libra marks the first day of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. As the cool weather draws near and the nights grow longer, many people want to nest with a companion. Venus (Aphrodite) the Goddess of love is blowing a kiss with thought and feeling about merging with Other. All in not fair in love and war…or so it goes. It is the perfect New Moon to deal with relationship issues on all levels, including the relationship that we experience with ourselves. Be willing to risk honesty when weighing our own heart with the feather of our own truth. Be fair when someone professes a truth that you are not in agreement with.  Each may be a truth according to their own experience and viewpoint. If we need to refine any agreements in our intimate relations, then now is the moment to initiate them.

A ritual of love and beauty can be performed in any romantic setting: A fire with lots of candles or any ambient lighting with sensual adornments like a red rose of love. Of course, water cleanses…why not enjoy a luxurious bubble bath infused with the most delicious essential oils like lavender…orange and vanilla? Treat your self to something of beauty. Remember to look beyond the Vanity Mirror of superficial beauty and look at the many mirrors of our loved ones who also reflect our inner beauty.

We all desire to be valued and loved. Are there any friends or family that you need to express your love and appreciation to?  Perhaps there has been an injustice that needs to be addressed. Can we meet upon a common ground of acceptance and not take rejection to heart? Indeed this Lunation cycle begins with decision making. If we are the Universe’s way of knowing itself, then Peace and Harmony truly begins with each and everyone one of us.

Jupiter will aspire many thoughts to aim high for our personal best…depending upon whether we reach for the sky or the stars. It is all about faith…in some cases blind faith. With Saturn (Duty) just moving into Sagittarius it will feel like a fluctuation sometimes with a rubber band effect when people push boundaries with over enthusiastic behaviour without heeding to others’ boundaries.

There is a wonderful Greek myth about Hercules and his mentor,  Chiron. Full Moons tend to draw out our energy and some of us will want to overindulge in food and drink, but we must be careful not to hurt others while in an inebriated state. Otherwise, we may not be wise in our buoyancy.

Both Sun and Rain give birth to all the colours of the visible light spectrum.

The Sun and Moon are conjunct in the Water Sign Pisces beginning a new lunation cycle with a New Moon.
