“The greatest distance between two people is Misunderstanding…”

A Return to Mindfulness and Patience

Yep! The Winged Messenger/Trickster Hermes/Loki is playing in the pre-shadow beginning December 1, 2016 in Sagittarius (Faith/Optimism) swiftly moving into Capricorn (Tests/Lessons)  when it officially retrogrades on December 19, 2016 until it moves direct back in Sagittarius on January 8, 2017 1:43 am  PST

Mercury Retrograde is a time to be mindful and accountable for our words and communication…it is a discipline that warrants strategic practice into action in a world where frenetic lifestyles seem the norm. It is just as important to listen with not only our head and heart but with ears that can also hear what is not being said. It is attention to detail, the reading between the lines and more importantly respect. Respect means to look again or to see again to re-spect a situation. Mercury must have been in retrograde when the tortoise decided to take on the challenge of the hare and have a race to the finish line. This is a great allegory: haste makes waste.

When our thoughts become pots of tea constantly pouring into the Buddhist’s cup… overflowing it because the young monk’s mind was overflowing with thoughts too.

The Hare was comfortable in the ostentatious belief that he would inevitably win the race but the clever tortoise knew that in taking its time it would eventually get there however slow the progress. Does it matter who reaches the finish line first?

As it is said: it is about the journey not the destination.

When Mercury is retrograde, we tend to notice more issues in the areas of communication, in the way we interact with others and in our surroundings and neighborhood. It may also show up in our travel, the way we get around and in our interaction with other people.

Many people are familiar with the words: “Mercury in retrograde”. It is a period of time that occurs several times a year when the planet Mercury appears to be moving backwards due to the speed of its orbit from Earth perspective. So the planet that rules both Gemini (Communication) and Virgo (Organization) seems to play tricks with these Sun signs more overtly…as well as all things associated with Communications such as dialogue… thinking processes…Technology that is used to communicate will often disrupt the usual…You will hear people say: “What’s wrong with my phone this never happens!”…”I’ve been using this device for years and this has never happened!” It can affect anything from a television to an automobile (Mercury is the winged messenger associated with traveling and any form of transportation). People usually experience unusual last minute delays for travel changes and trip planning. The Sun, Moon or Rising Virgo or Gemini will be more affected.

So…if you place the prefix re
before any word…you’ll understand what Mercury retrograde is all about. (I already have had to make six corrections during this typing). So maybe your car won’t break down and maybe your neighbors will…if it happens to break down it is usually due to an oversight on one’s part…or the mechanic. Mercury is all about thinking…so if we are practicing mindfulness we should be able to avoid some of the repercussions of forgetfulness. Things tend to go missing more so when mercury is in retrograde…My friend nearly lost her gloves three times today…So we retrace when we misplace…Rather than simply be lost in space…People actually find things long forgotten when mercury is retrograde…Something that went missing in the previous Mercury retrograde suddenly appears…disappointment missing an appointment.

Another friend realized that the parking meter had expired 45 minutes prior to her realization…However there was no ticket…Which is usually the case…The oversight of the meter reader resulted in my friends not discovering a ticket.

Big purchases such as houses and the signing of important documents…legal bindings…are to be avoided due to someone missing an important factor…misunderstanding a word…or not able to honour the agreement. If you are willing to review re read repeat reassess…if you must…proceed with caution.

I think Mercury retrograde is a wonderful practice of mindfulness…Rethinking what we might otherwise not say…Repeating prayers and mantras…Refinishing unfinished projects…And this is where unfinished business comes into play…Old friends appear from the past…I don’t mean someone you met last month at the cafe….Sometimes people you’ve completely forgotten about appear in a conversation or right before your eyes.

My friend eventually misplaced one of her gloves…However upon arriving back at home the following day she discovered her purple leather glove poised in a waving gesture…and giggling to herself said: oh Mercury in retrograde…

Remember that this retrograde cycle ushers in the holiday season so be extra-mindful of trip planning and travel with a knapsack of compassion, lovingkindness and peace…

New Moon in Sagittarius

In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.  ~ Blaise Pascal

The Sun and Moon are once again in union with the aspiration and optimism of Sagittarius.  The New Moon can feel like a very dark place this time of year with the colder weather ushering us inside our warm homes (those of us who are blessed to have homes) and inside our body temples. Mercury (Communication) is about to enter its retrograde shadow on December 1, 2016 until it stations retrograde on December 19, 2016 until January 8, 2016 which I will post about tomorrow.
After all the intense, transformative energies of Scorpio played out in very mysterious and profound ways…we begin to feel the discipline of Saturn with its constricting rings which can test our limits and especially our faith in the sign Sagittarius. The energy seems to be shifting toward faith, goodwill and kindness. These Holy Days are celebrated in a mosaic of faith and worship of the Light in all of its radiance and glory. Sagittarius is the Sage. We seek value and meaning in the season of peace, love and joy.  This holyday season open up your heart because it is the greatest gift that anyone can give or receive.
There is a wonderful story called The Gift Of The Magi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gift_of_the_Magi  about two lovers who do not have the finances to purchase extravagant gifts for one another. In an ironic twist they make sacrifices to obtain the desired gifts but the gifts are rendered useless. It is a great story to remind ourselves of the magi within us and to follow our own shining star to the place wherein dwells our own divinity.
Sagittarius wants to express its restless energy and propel the wheel of evolution into a more expansive, multi-cultural society of inter-faith with optimism and openess.  It is a time of learning new ways to grow in personal and interpersonal ways. Now is the time to sow the seeds of our faith in ourselves and in others.  It is a time to remember the Teacher within. A time to remember the many healers and mentors in our lives. The archer aims steady allowing the arrow of ambition to make its mark.Sagittarius is also affiliated with the planet Jupiter which is the largest in our Solar System. Due to its size, it has been associated with joy, opportunity, expansiveness, abundance and luck. It had the potential to be another Sun in our Solar System. It is also associated with faith. When the Sun is in Sagittarius, a lot of people celebrate the Season of the Light Bringers of Faith in December. Astronomically and Astrologically we are reminded of that faith when the light of the Sun is reborn at Winter’s Solstice. The Sun appears to standstill as it sets on the southwest horizon marking the shortest day of the year while the Earth’s axis begins its journey toward longer days of warmth and light. In the Nativity story the Three Magi use both astronomy and astrology to mark the date, time and place of  the birth of the Christ Child. They traveled afar being from foreign lands bearing gifts of the Sage. Here we are reminded of the torch bearers of the Light and the archetypes of Sagittarius (travelers, foreigner, wisdom seeker, keeper of the faith and opportunist). Hanukkah begins on December 24, 2016 with the lighting of the Menorah which is another tradition of ushering the Light into the Dark time of the year.

Express your enthusiasm with the gratitude of the abundance that we may receive…and remember to share your blessings…whether as a Random Act of Kindness…an encouraging word…a gentle touch…a warm embrace…just aim from the heart and shoot for the stars! However you celebrate the holyday season may it be filled with Light, Laughter and Love.

September 1, 2016  2:03 am  PDT (Eclipse 2:06 am  PDT not visible)

The New Moon can be experienced as a journey toward the within…to the center of our being. The New Moon in Virgo is a time to reap within what has been sown without.  It is the time when we begin to harvest that which brings us back to earth during the last weeks of summer.  Many people return to work, school or some form of service. Sun (Motivation), Moon (Mood), Mercury (Communication) in Retrograde and Jupiter (Faith) are all conjunct in Virgo…at core we feel the need to strive…to thrive…and stay alive. What can I do? How can I repair? How do I make it better? Are those really butterflies in my tummy?
Too much analysis can lead to paralysis…
Being a Virgo, I completely concur with the above quote, because Virgo is the Sign of the Analyst.  Anyone with Virgo prominent in their birth chart (Sun/ Moon/Rising or a stellium of orbs in the 6th House) can be a stickler to detail. Too much detail can derail us from our beingness.  It is the Sign of the Perfectionist, and it can be difficult to put away the voice of the Inner Critic that resides in us all.
Where there is Light…there is Shadow…
So the Sun in Virgo through excessive worry and needing to be of service can sometimes leave the Perfectionist personality in the Dark and ignore any complex matter by falling into the abyss of martyrdom. The Inner Critic is simply a recording of the Outer Critic…which is the voice of others who have inundated us with the projection of their own shadow and in the process their criticism has become destructive to the self-esteem and confidence…which can further demise and victimize poor Virgo.   People born with the Moon in Virgo tend to be quite critical of their self and others; as well as being shy and sometimes emotionally aloof because they need to know the facts of the matter to ensure that it is perfect…before they can open the gate to their Secret Garden.  By comparing, judging and needing to know why, we steer away from the center of our being.  Of course we require these cognitive tools at times because Virgo wants to be of service, to work and is health focused…sometimes obsessed.  Virgo is also associated with worry which can lead to problems in the stomach and intestines where we digest and process not only our food but also our gut instinct.
In fact, the Medical Health Care Profession uses the symbol of Mercury’s Winged Staff Caduceus as their emblem. The two snakes intertwine like the double helix of DNA. As mentioned, Virgo is health oriented and prompts us to focus upon our personal health issues and to commit ourselves to a healthier lifestyle.  It can be a time to be supportive of the health of others, in particular the caregivers in our lives.  A lot of Virgo energy is channeled through the many health care service providers who are often overworked and unappreciated.  Our Health Care System seems to be inundated with problems and lacking the resources that we are in dire need of.  That is why it is important to heed to the words: Physician Heal Thyself.  We need to explore ways in which we can heal ourselves in Body, Mind and Spirit.  There are many healers in this world, but we are our best healer in the long run.  I am grateful that there are those who can set broken bones, stitch wounds and save lives.  However, I think about the saying: Broken bones mend faster than broken spirits.  We need to integrate both Allopathic and Alternative Health Practices. It can be very frustrating when one side dismisses the benefits of the other.
Without a healthy planet we cannot expect to be healthy ourselves.  I have discovered that when I help to heal others I am also helping to heal myself.Divine Servitude is in a sense the calling that allows Virgo (associated with the Virgin) to harvest the fruits of its labours to assist others in a time of solace.  Many Virgo types enter into deep seclusion to contemplate the pain and suffering of others that they too feel. Being of service is a word that also translates the latin word servus which means slave. Virgo loves to offer assistance on its own terms of service oftentimes volunteering without wage but it will not respond well to arrogant demands that treat them as a slave.  It is truly about integrity and needing to be humble about being served as well as being of service.
Ceres was the ancient Roman Goddess of Agriculture and harvest of the grain.  She is incorporated into the Virgo symbol of a woman holding a sheath of wheat.  The word cereal is derived from her name.  The glyph of the scythe that cuts away the barley is similar to the symbol of the question mark that cuts away to an answer after a period of analysis.

Give us this day our daily bread so that we may share it with others. Just some food for thought or barley soup for the soul. Remember Health is True Wealth.

Note: There will be a Annular Solar Eclipse during this New Moon as she moves between the Earth and Sun casting her shadow…reminding us not to eclipse the light of others…or allow ourselves to be overshadowed by another.

Johfra Gemini

June 4, 2016  7:59 pm  PDT

The Sun and the Moon are currently in the Sign of the Twins: Gemini. Cogito Ergo Sum translates: “I think, therefore I am”,  which was coined by the French philosopher Renee Descartes. Gemini, being an Air Sign, is a Creative Thinker or Genius. The New Moon is a great time to continue the journey toward the within. Our thoughts may turn inward, only to move outward, as we will want to communicate with others. A lot of Gemini types appear to have their head in the attic of rationality. However, it is important for Gemini to allow their feelings to be experienced in the heart, rather than only the head. The heart hath its reason, which reason knows nothing of ~Blaise Pascal.

Mercury, the Winged Messenger, ruler of Gemini and coming out of retrograde is busy playing mind games with our sense of communication in the Sign it rules: Gemini which will lend to the duality theme during the coming weeks. This can bring about a fluctuation of moods as we navigate our way through the pillars of Gemini between sense and nonsense we may continue to feel divided between what we think and how we feel. The Sins of the Father become the Compassion of the Mother. The House that the New Moon transits can reveal what areas in our lives need attention at this time. Venus the planet of Attraction, Beauty and Love is also flirting with the shadow play of Mercury in the sign it governs Gemini…and in the realm of love there may be conflict but also the opportunity to speak from the heart. Learning to integrate any opposing energies can be a beautiful dance that transcends the great divide.

The greatest distance between two people is miscommunication.

Gemini is the social butterfly that loves to flutter around and experience all of the variety of flowers in bloom. Sometimes the Social Gemini Moon can attract gossip and create needless misunderstandings. Make an effort to communicate effectively and to listen to others. Remember the children’s game Whispering Down The Lane? You whisper something into one person’s ear that is passed on to the next person and by the time it reaches the end of the line it has become totally out of context. Be mindful before speaking. In other words, put your mouth in gear before you put it into action (unless there is room in it for your foot).Gemini will spy with their logical eye to make sense of the nonsense. They are usually rather witty and interesting people. They tend to stick their finger in every pie like Georgie Porgie and can be mischievious like Curious George…although they can be fun to monkey around with. Sometimes when Geminis’ curiousity is aroused they can go bananas by attempting to understand everything new under the Sun.

What the caterpillar calls death, the butterfly calls life.

Nervousness and worry are common traits of Gemini. Although they are not so prone to worry like their astro-cousins Virgo which is also associated with Mercury. Gemini rules the nervous system and an underlying restlessness is common. They tend to see the glass as either half full or half empty. Other peoples’ emotions can be difficult for Gemini types to handle. They have a way with words riddled with puns and clever wit. Geminis have no time for Taurus bullshit. They can fluctuate between being childlike and childish.

Media has become overloaded and our minds downloaded with a lot of negativity being reported in the news. There is just too much information at our disposal. We are being left to our own devices and experiencing reality through a digital world and cyberspace. This is a great time to turn off the TV/Cell Phone/Computer and tune in to the transmission of the planet and all our relations on an organic level. We are the center of our universe. Everything we think and do has an impact upon ourselves and our immediate surroundings. If we are restless and require distraction, then perhaps we could learn to meditate while practicing deep breathing to calm the nervous system. Gemini is associated with the lungs and nervous system. Think of ways to create Positive Action, then breathe life into it. Yes, the universe exists with both positive and negative energy. We need to bring any opposing forces together through integration and accord.

A world in black and white, hath no colour.

The Light Spectrum refuses no colour. How would we know day without night? Get outside and bear witness to the beauty that nature paints for us in every moment. As Albert Einstein said: Imagination is far greater than knowledge. Dare to be different. When you change your perception, you transform your world. Remember to respect that other people’s Way may differ from your own. Same planet, different worlds.

There are many myths about Mercury/Hermes, the Ancient Messenger God, who was also known as the Patron of both Merchants, Great Thinkers and Thieves, as well as surfers and skateboarders in modern time. Imagine the mind of Leonardo Da Vinci observing the winged birds and igniting the spark that humans would eventually be able to fly…and eventually led to the industry of aviation. Thoughts and ideas can travel fast like quicksilver in the archetype of the Gemini Genius. I suggest reading about his myth, and also the story of his counterparts; the Egyptian Thoth and Norse Loki.

This is the New Moon to begin a journal. Especially those with Gemini prominent in their chart as their minds are easily distracted by the social behavior of others and their own internal whims. I have often heard a Gemini make a decision only to change it shortly thereafter…if they haven’t dismissed it all together…hence the trait scatter brained. Gemini needs to know Why? Many people use journals for calendars, appointments and goals…rather than self-reflection and expression. Forget the attitude and think gratitude. Start focusing on the wins, rather than the losses in your life. Whatever you do, try to do it with an open mind and most importantly with an open heart…for it is the caterpillar that eventually transforms into the butterfly…opening its wings to fly!

Full Moon in Leo

Artist: Josephine Wall

Artist: Josephine Wall

February 3, 2014  3:08 pm   PST

When the Sun is shining bright in Aquarius although we are  still cold in winter…the Moon is reflecting the light in Leo reminding us when we were still hot in summer six months earlier…polar opposites of the Aquarius/Leo axis. Thus we continue the current lunation cycle that began 14 days ago at the New Moon. Where Aquarius proclaims freedom and love of community…Leo roars with need of attention and love of friends.
Leo rules the heart and is associated with the Sun. I like to think of this Full Moon as a night of  lighthearted  fun!  With the Sun (our core identity), Mercury in Retrograde (our miscommunication) in Aquarius with the Moon (our mood) in Leo…it will be the eternal drama between the head and heart…the heart hath its reason, which reason knows nothing of…an act of love whether for humanity or vanity is still a form of love. Jupiter (faith/optimism) is also in Leo. This is the time to act and attract the change that you feel in the Heart Chakra/Solar Plexus (both located just above the belly button and near the heart).

All the world’s a stage and we all play our part in it. Leo wants to be in the spotlight and receive attention. Some of us will create drama in our lives in order to feel the recognition that we need. It is a fire sign that can make us somewhat restless and frisky. Romance can be extra hot on this fiery Full Moon which ignites the first signs of spring  fever. This Full Moon occurs during the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox. In fact, the month of February is named after the Ancient Roman Goddess Februa who presided over the fever and passion of Love…

Sun lights up the daytime…Moon lights up the night…Everybody’s got the fever…That is something you should know…Fever isn’t such a new scene…Fever started long ago…

It is no wonder that we celebrate the Festival of Romance with white, red and pink hearts on Valentine’s Day. Vali was a Norse archer god (Valiant, Valour)  while Cupid/Eros was the pansexual Roman/Greek deity of erotic love. Personally, I feel that this celebration of Love has been corrupted by the belief system that love is so conditional; that showering someone with flowers, candy, cards or dinner professes one’s undying love. It is more than simply a Hallmark holiday. Should love be exclusive to couples only? There are so many ways to show that you love someone without having to buy their affection. Remember, there are many degrees of love and it is not to be measured by the monetary value of a gift or extravagant dinner. What an honour it would be to have a loved one create a heartfelt dinner, and then for us to return the favour with a hot bubble bath and an erotic massage. There are a multitude of ways to say: I Love You!

Personally, it is more of a celebration of the One Heart that beats and loves us all unconditionally on this magickal and mysterious tour between birth and death. Love is the absence of fear, so be fearless. To have courage literally translates to have heart. It takes courage to risk being hurt when dealing with affairs of the heart. If you want to be loved, then love. Some people are too proud to risk wearing their heart upon their sleeve. They claim that they have been hurt and betrayed too many times and are unwilling to open their own heart chakra.  They would rather be fierce and allow that proverbial thorn in the lion’s paw to keep them wounded. Perhaps the thorn that pierces their wounded heart could be gently removed by an act of compassion and love. when the heart is full..the eyes overflow…

This is a great night to gather with lovers and friends. As I mentioned, Leo is a fire sign and can ignite this Full Moon night. This is no time to play mind games with ourselves or with others. We all can become a bit self-centered during this time, so play fair. It is the Moon to entertain and to be entertained by going to a concert, the theatre, a sports game or a night on the town dancing. Sitting around a fire with a group of friends would definitely warm up the night. Focus on being creative and having fun…and yes…even a heart to heart with a lover or friend can channel the restless energy.

The Sun in Aquarius (Freedom) is being mirrored by the Moon in Leo (Loyalty) and reminds me of the lion in the film Born Free. Don’t we all just want to be…free? Maybe even a bit wild? With the Sun in the sign of Humanity  and the Moon in Leo of taking heart…is what courage requires with seeds of compassion. In the jungle, no lion sleeps tonight. Remember, not everyone can be the King or Queen of the Jungle all of the time, so make room on your personal stage to allow others to shine in the moonlight too!

Full Moon in Taurus

taurus-comments-001
November 6, 2014  2:22 pm  PST
This is the season of storms in many regions. Events like these often bring us closer to the true value and meaning of our lives with the full moon in Taurus. Do we feel safe? With so many modern devices it is no wonder that we are left to our own devices. In this accelerated age of a technological edge it seems that more people are discovering that these very tools that were marketed to make our lives more convenient and safe…now seem to be driving us crazy. Bottom line is : Too much information…too fast! With Mercury Retrograde since the end of October 2014, those who are aware of this astrological phenomena will be more mindful of the magnetic interference that affects our communication devices and our ability to process thoughts clearly and effectively.  It is as if things related to travel and communication cause frustrating setbacks…as the planet Mercury tricks us by appearing to move backwards in the sky. In fact, for approximately 22 days this planet which contains the highest iron content in our solar system stands between the Sun and Earth like a gigantic magnet seeming to cause us to yell at our devices for unexpected disruptions…misplaced keys and objects…setbacks in our travel plans…and again…especially our perception can be easily tricked into misunderstanding…testing our patience and our nervous system…similar to magnetic interference in electricity. Fortunately, Mercury the Winged Messenger of Rome (Greek Hermes, Norse Loki and Egyptian Thoth) will soon be flying off with his bag of tricks when Mercury Stations Direct on November 10, 2014.
The Sun (our core/motivation) is still in Scorpio (our mystery/power) which enhances the effect of this Full Moon in Taurus (our security/value). We are a midst the season of change and decay with the many transformations that are colouring not only world politics…Saturn (boundaries/time) is also in Scorpio… but also the politics of personal power that we engage in with others and with ourselves. We are constantly being convinced that life is a struggle rather than a journey into the ever unfolding mystery of life, death and beyond. We are told that we can not have peace without war. During the Sign of Scorpio we remember those who fought for peace and those who have passed away. Many customs are celebrated around the world to honour the memory of our ancestors.

The Full Moon in Taurus is all about our sense of security on all levels. It is the full-fillment of living in the material or matter-real world. Moon is associated with Mother and how she was able to be nurturing or not in our sense of value, meaning and security. It is not a time to be charging after something like a raging bull and stubbornly clinging to that which we cannot possess (often seen in as the scorpion attached to the balls of the bull)… rather it can a time to take the Bull by the horns and get real with ourselves and each other. We all need the comfort and support of friends, family and lovers. This is a great oppurtunity to gather and remember the many blessings that continue to come to us in the most surprising of gifts. We are apt to feel more sensual during this Moon…as its gravational pull is so strong bringing us down to earth and grounding us…after the Moon in Aries (restlessness/challenge/action/passion/anger/conflict) transit the last few days.

Too often we find ourselves trying to POSSESS that which is not truly ours and living with a false sense of security. Money does not create emotional security. Love does not create financial security (although partnership can). Like the many gardeners that love to get their hands dirty…cultivating the soil of their gardens, we can also unearth some of the misconceptions that have been planted in our own Secret Garden.  Has it been fertilised with a lot of bullshit that stifles our personal growth?

Why is it that some people are able to make us feel secure, while others make us feel insecure? I believe it is all about investment. Who and what do we invest in? Are we giving and receiving our fair share? Do we own our possessions or do our possessions own us? Do we merely borrow our existence or do we own it? When we feel we are not being respected or honoured for our efforts, we may become insecure. It is about Personal Power experienced by the individual.

Think about our earth’s resources and how insufficiently they are being distributed. There are enough natural resources to feed, shelter and clothe those who live in poverty. We all need to grab the bull by the horns and harness its power and connection to Mother Earth. If we give her back her diamond, she will offer up her pearl. ~Dead Can Dance

Superficially, we are defined by what we do rather than who we are. We enter this world or realm of the senses with nothing material other than our body temple infused with soul and we depart from mundane realm with nothing tangible. Yet we are conditioned by constant marketing schemes to convince us to purchase things that we do not neccessarily need; or eventually that we no longer want when they become a useless burden. Again, it is the attachment to the sentiment, rather than the object itself that the Taurus type wants to cling to. After all, eventually you will be thrown off by the bull, both literally and figuratively. The Full Moon in Taurus can also affect our sexuality as well as our sensuality. Venus ruled Taurus wants to love and experience beauty in its many manifestations. As the saying goes: if you want to be loved, then offer love. A romantic time with a loved one exchanging sensual touch and healing massage would be beneficial.

During the next two weeks prior to the next New Moon as the moon wanes or decreases in light would be a great opportunity to let go of the things that no longer serve any value or meaning in our quest for purpose. A friend just overcame her fear of releasing the many objects that encumbered her with the notion that she would need them to feel secure both in her present and future. Rather than merely discarding items…like my friend, we could donate them to a charity or a women’s shelter which my friend chose to do. It is also what nature is doing in the Northern Hemisphere as the trees let go of their fruit and leaves…as they fall unto the ground to be returned to the earth…what is not consumed feeds the soil and roots in preparation for the coming spring after their winter slumber…perpetuating the perpetual cycle of the seasons…in the perpetual dance of the Sun and Moon.

Taurus is is named after the Minotaur ( a Greek word meaning Bull of Minos). There is a Greek myth of the Labyrinth and the White Bull of King Minos of Crete. In modern times, the Labyrinth is still used as a meditative and symbolic pathway. The Full Moon draws our energy outward like the Bull at the center of the labyrinth journeys outward as it illuminates the darkness. We can appreciate the darker side of the nature of things in ourselves and in others.
Do you want to be like a Bull in a china shop destroying things by being mindless?  Or more like Ferdinand the Bull, who chose not to fight but instead took the time to smell the beautiful roses of  love.

New Moon in Libra

October 4, 2013  5:37 pm  PDT

The Sun and the Moon merge in the Air Sign Libra seeking balance and harmony with self and with others. This is also the New Moon of the Sacred Union between any inharmonious energy dynamics that require our attention. We all are faced with moments in which we need to assess opposing forces in our lives and to weigh them upon the scales of Balance and Justice. Try to remove the blindfold of Injustice and see that everything is beautiful in its own way and that includes each and everyone of us. The mood seems to be one of fluctuation…weighing the pros and cons in the search for liberty, justice, peace and harmony. In certain parts of the world the scales remain unfairly imbalanced. Social injustice is being addressed on many issues…and seems to come round again when the sun and moon are conjunct in Libra …including Libra’s realm of partnerships, equality and attraction.

Most people are familiar with the Law of Attraction but seem to negate the Law of Repulsion. When we accept that certain energy (even the energy within each of us) is sometimes repelling in order to achieve harmony and to accept its way. Positive and Negative are both equal and necessary charges and without them we simply can not recharge our batteries. We need to empty so that we may fill. Good/Evil, Happy/Sad, Light/Dark, Yin/Yan, Head/Heart are on the axis of opposites. Energy is ebb and flow. If the scales were completely still, they would in essence become stagnant, boring and without motion.

Partnerships of all types are affected here so pay special attention when dealing with business partnerships or engaging in any contracts of great importance or value in the next coming weeks due to Mercury going retrograde just prior to the full moon.

Libra marks the first day of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. As the cool weather draws near and the nights grow longer, many people want to nest with a companion. Venus is blowing a kiss with thought and feeling about merging with an other. All in not fair in love and war…or so it goes. It is the perfect New Moon to deal with relationship issues on all levels, including the relationship that we experience with ourselves. Be willing to risk honesty when weighing our own heart with the feather of our own truth. Be fair when someone professes a truth that you are not in agreement with.  Each may be a truth according to their own experience and viewpoint. If we need to refine any agreements in our intimate relations, then now is the moment to initiate them.

A ritual of love and beauty can be performed in any romantic setting: A fire with lots of candles or any ambient lighting with sensual adornments like a red rose of love. Of course, who doesn’t enjoy a luxurious bubble bath infused with the most delicious essential oils like lavender…orange and vanilla. Treat your self to something of beauty. Remember to look beyond the Vanity Mirror of superficial beauty and look at the many mirrors of our loved ones who also reflect our inner beauty.

We all desire to be valued and loved. Are there any friends or family that you need to express your love and appreciation to?  Perhaps there has been an injustice that needs to be addressed. Can we meet upon a common ground of acceptance and not take rejection to heart?Indeed this Lunation cycle begins with decision making. If we are the Universe’s way of knowing itself, then Peace and Harmony truly begins with each and everyone one of us.

there is a universal justice ~ and the eyes of truth are always watching…

Aquarius is associated with the planet Uranus which was discovered in 1781 only a few decades after electricity was harnessed and began the flow of energy that would invent and power the light bulb (popping up over the heads of the inventors, genuises and other scientists with ideas that were considered eccentric during that time) and charge such inventions as the battery, camera and hot air balloon.  Uranus was also discovered between both the French and American Revolutions. So Aquarius came to be associated with freedom, revolution, rebellion, electricity, eccentricity, technology, the New Age and last (but not least) community and being humanitarian. Some Aquarians can send a shocking bolt out of the blue because many of them are great thinkers with eccentric ideas. As Einstein said: imagination is far greater than knowledge.

Here we are, centuries later, shifting into the Age of Aquarius. Change is taking place at a more rapid pace, we spend our valuable energy on trying to change so many things at once but as the saying goes: the more things change, the more they remain the same.  Even Shakespeare said: Striving to be better, oft we mar what is well.  So we expend our resources attempting to change the world around us.  Many  people attempt to change others out of fear and ignorance.  Our differences are Our similarities.  Change our attitude and we change our world.  Nothing is constant but change.  Therefore, as a human ( man or woman) we create and affect change everyday.  We engage in change all the time… if you want to make change… this Full Moon is a perfect opportunity.  If you follow the Solar/Lunar Way this is the day…we are all a part of the global community.

Commune means to come together, not only as a group but to honour and respect (take a closer look) the Free Spirit within us all.  Perhaps this is why Moon in Air Signs such as Aquarius are emotionally reserved taking the time to allow the waters of the unconscious to pour out of the urn of their subconscious mind (air).  Aquarius is the Water Bearer…nothing is as soft as water, but who can withstand the raging flood?   Water represents the emotions.  I feel it is important in this Age of Communication to be not only mindful but also heartful. This is why many people feel disconnected and want to belong.  Social Networking is a result of the Leo/Aquarius axis.  The Sun in Leo wants to receive love and attention…deep down yearning for acceptance…recognition and approval in a very competitive society…and willing to risk all individuality to belong to a group, cult or even a gang.  This is not the lion’s roar…this is the rebel’s yell.

Aquarius is also the sign of the humanitarian. Many persons with Moon in Aquarius can antagonize others when it comes to their somewhat aloof personality with Other becoming emotionally shocked at times when they feel intimidated…losing their sense of freedom. Like many Air Signs they are easily bored and crave excitement. Here is where the Leo/Aquarius axis comes into play and the mood changes like the flip of a coin [Note: the Sun leaves moody Cancer and enters Leo July 22 2013 at 7:56 am PDT, while Mercury (Communication) Mars (Action) and Jupiter (Faith) are still clinging on in Cancer which will focus on nurturing and nourishing in these areas] ….one moment attached and the next detached…flying like a bat out of hell screaming: freedom!

The Full Moon in Aquarius reflects the Sun in Leo and illuminates the mind with the changes we feel compelled to make while in a state of playfulness in the summer heat.  Venus (Attraction) is also in Leo adding to the emotional aspects of love while we seek connection with Other. We want to be engaged with others while at the same time needing our freedom. Remember…a whole lot of something can be a whole lot of nothing. Friendship is key…loyalty fundamental. If you are seeking an affair then shine and make certain to be in the spotlight flirting for a summer fling.  So the cycle continues in the eternal ebb and flow of evolution and revolution.  Gather with friends in positive action rather than negative reaction.  There is a time to dream and a time to awaken.  Be a part of the solution. Be a Rebel with a Cause!

Full Moon in Libra

libra

March 27,2013  2:26 am  PDT

Did you know that going to the Ball had its origin in the custom of going to a party or social gathering during a Full Moon?  Prior to electricity, people would rely upon the Full Moon to light up the night of festivities, therefore, being referred to as the Ball. These days certain people still gather beneath the Full Moon.  The Mirror Ball (Disco Ball) in most dance clubs replicates the light of the moon by reflecting the rays of the spotlight…into a myriad of artificial moonbeams affecting each person’s mood in a unique way.

Welcome the first full moon of Spring!

The current Lunation Cycle began with a New Moon in Pisces…affecting the deeper senses within each of us. This has been a month of watery emotions with a stellium of planets in sensitive Pisces. The Sun (motivation) Venus (Love) Mars (Action) and Uranus (Humanity) are still in  fiery Aries. Collectively, there has been a tremendous amount of unrest within Gaia and within us. I attribute it to the anticipation of the season with an abundance of energy that is struggling to breakthrough…like a seed in the dark soil preparing to shed its shell and emerge into the light of day. In winter, old ways die and in spring are reborn. How do we channel this renewed energy into positive action as opposed to the frenetic activity that can sometimes overwhelm us…whether through media or social interaction.
Where there is light…there is shadow.  Persons born with the Sun Sign Libra may feel the full moon more intensely as it is the opposite time of the year and balancing opposition is what they strive to do. They may feel indecisive about important matters involving  Other. Not all may seem fair in love…

Welcome to the first Full Moon of Spring!  If you look closely you can see the rabbit in the moon. Spring always occurs just before Easter (which always falls on the first Sunday, after the first Full Moon, after the first day of Spring. Each year the Full Moon occurs heralding the festival of Easter and Spring. The Sun rises in the east and thus is our Eastern Star which also marks the beginning of the Astrological New Year. Life seems to be bursting with energy as the days grow longer and warmer. The Sun is currently in the Sign Aries (Greek God of War,Action, Aggression) symbolic of the power and fire igniting the season. The Moon in Libra is diametrically opposed to the Sun, reflecting the restlessness of  Spring Fever .  Libra is associated with the ancient Roman Goddess Venus of Beauty and Love (Aphrodite: Greek Goddess of Love, Beauty, Arts) is the sign of Balance, Justice, Fairness, Truth, Beauty, and Harmony. Imagine the two Greek deities facing off:  the male God of Martial Arts and War opposite the female Goddess of Marital Arts and Peace.  Is it possible to integrate this archetypal conflict in our personal lives, so that we may be the love and peace that we seek through positive action?  We pray for peace in the Middle East, yet we neglect the war within our own country and within ourselves. I ponder this dilemma as I gaze at the Full Moon encompassed by a rainbow aura of peace and contentment.  Do War and Peace even belong in the same sentence?  If I were to allow myself to be bombarded by images of war and violence in the media, I would never have the opportunity to seek and experience peace. When I walk along streets canopied with Cherry Blossoms ( a gift to us from Japan), I am certainly intoxicated with a sense of  peace, as nature continues to paint a breathtaking portrait of beauty each and every moment.

Since this is the Full Moon of Love and Peace, some of us may be yearning intimate connections with others. How beautiful life is when we take the time to see it in all its glory. The Sun is warming but can also burn. Nature contains opposites which seek to balance. Aries is the Sign of independence ~ Libra is the Sign of inter-dependence. Aries offers the fuel for positive action and in its opposite sign we gravitate to Other. There is a universal justice and the eyes of truth are watching…

There is a balance in the scheme of things that allows us to integrate opposing energies through the Law of Harmony. Libra is associated with the Scales of Balance and Justice, and Harmony, therefore, we tend to weigh the pros and cons while remaining in a state of indecision.  Instead of listening to the voice of the inner critic, perhaps we could recreate a dialogue of compromise and compassion, embracing the The Peaceful Warrior within.  We can create a healthy relationship between our head and our heart.

It can be a perfect time to channel our restless energy by engaging with others in a social gathering. Turn on your charm, creativity and romance.  Make love like the birds and the bees. Hug the trees!  Beauty is everywhere…check it out. Be as the Full Moon and reflect the Light of your Sun on others who may be traversing in the dark. If you can…love your enemy…love your self…love others!

Just make love, not war
