New Moon in Gemini

The Sun and the Moon are currently in the Sign of the Twins: Gemini. Cogito Ergo Sum translates: “I think, therefore I am”,  which was coined by the French philosopher Renee Descartes. Gemini, being an Air Sign, is a Creative Thinker or Genius. The New Moon is a great time to continue the journey toward the within. Our thoughts may turn inward, only to move outward, as we will want to communicate with others. A lot of Gemini types appear to have their head in the attic of rationality. However, it is important for Gemini to allow their feelings to be experienced in the heart, rather than only the head.

The heart hath its reason, which reason knows nothing of ~Blaise Pascal.

Gemini which will lend to the duality theme during the coming weeks can bring about a fluctuation of moods as we navigate our way through the pillars of Gemini between sense and nonsense we may continue to feel divided between what we think and how we feel. The Sins of the Father become the Compassion of the Mother. The House that the New Moon transits can reveal what areas in our lives need attention at this time. Mars (Action) is also challenging Mercury in the sign it governs Gemini…and in the realm of action and reaction there may be conflict but also the opportunity to speak from the heart. Learning to integrate any opposing energies can be a motion such as the martial arts that transcends the great divide.

The greatest distance between two people is miscommunication.

Gemini is the social butterfly that loves to flutter around and experience all of the variety of flowers in bloom. Sometimes the Social Gemini Moon can attract gossip and create needless misunderstandings. Make an effort to communicate effectively and to listen to others. Remember the children’s game Whispering Down The Lane? You whisper something into one person’s ear that is passed on to the next person and by the time it reaches the end of the line it has become totally out of context. Be mindful before speaking. In other words, put your mouth in gear before you put it into action (unless there is room in it for your foot).Gemini will spy with their logical eye to make sense of the nonsense. They are usually rather witty and interesting people. They tend to stick their finger in every pie like Georgie Porgie and can be mischievous like Curious George…although they can be fun to monkey around with. Sometimes when Geminis’ curiosity is aroused they can go bananas by attempting to understand everything new under the Sun.

What the caterpillar calls death, the butterfly calls life.

Nervousness and worry are common traits of Gemini. Although they are not so prone to worry like their astro-cousins Virgo which is also associated with Mercury. Gemini rules the eyes and nervous system where an underlying restlessness is common. They tend to see the glass as either half full or half empty. Other peoples’ emotions can be difficult for Gemini types to handle. They have a way with words riddled with puns and clever wit. Geminis have no time for Taurus bullshit. They can fluctuate between being childlike and childish.

Media has become overloaded and our minds downloaded with a lot of negativity being reported in the news. There is just too much information at our disposal. We are being left to our own devices and experiencing reality through a digital world and cyberspace. This is a great time to turn off the TV/Cell Phone/Computer and tune in to the transmission of the planet and all our relations on an organic level. We are the center of our universe. Everything we think and do has an impact upon ourselves and our immediate surroundings. If we are restless and require distraction, then perhaps we could learn to meditate while practicing deep breathing to calm the nervous system. Gemini is associated with the lungs and nervous system. Think of ways to create Positive Action, then breathe life into it. Yes, the universe exists with both positive and negative energy. We need to bring any opposing forces together through integration and accord.

A world in black and white, hath no color.

The Light Spectrum refuses no color. How would we know day without night? Get outside and bear witness to the beauty that nature paints for us in every moment. As Albert Einstein said: Imagination is far greater than knowledge. Dare to be different. When you change your perception, you transform your world. Remember to respect that other people’s Way may differ from your own. Same planet, different worlds.

There are many myths about Mercury/Hermes, the Ancient Messenger God, who was also known as the Patron of both Merchants, Great Thinkers and Thieves, as well as surfers and skateboarders in modern time. Imagine the mind of Leonardo Da Vinci observing the winged birds and igniting the spark that humans would eventually be able to fly…and eventually led to the industry of aviation. Thoughts and ideas can travel fast like quicksilver in the archetype of the Gemini Genius. I suggest reading about his myth, and also the story of his counterparts; the Egyptian Thoth and Norse Loki.

This is the New Moon to begin a journal. Especially those with Gemini prominent in their chart as their minds are easily distracted by the social behavior of others and their own internal whims. I have often heard a Gemini make a decision only to change it shortly thereafter…if they haven’t dismissed it all together…hence the trait scatter brained. Gemini needs to know Why? Many people use journals for calendars, appointments and goals…rather than self-reflection and expression. Forget the attitude and think gratitude. Start focusing on the wins, rather than the losses in your life. Whatever you do, try to do it with an open mind and most importantly with an open heart…for it is the caterpillar that eventually transforms into the butterfly…opening its wings to fly!

With Venus (Love, Harmony, Attraction) next in Cancer also it will seem like a competition between the heart and head. This can bring about a fluctuation of moods as we navigate our way through the pillars of Gemini.  With Mars (Action, Ignition, Aggression) and Jupiter (Expansion, Opportunity, Faith) also in  Gemini we may continue to feel divided between what we think and how we feel. Mercury, the Winged Messenger, ruler of Gemini is busy playing mind games with our sense of security in the Sign Taurus (Money, Possessions, Security, ). Think about what true security means. We may traverse down memory lane and want to complete any unfinished business both personal and professional.
Venus (Love, Harmony, Attraction)  Here the head and the heart can meet upon a common ground which enables us to secure our own personal comfort zone. A perfect time to get out and watch the Solar Eclipse which will occur when both the Sun and Moon are conjunct. This gives us an opportunity to look within and ask ourselves if we are eclipsing another’s personal light by overshadowing them with our own projections. The house that the Sun is eclipsed can reveal what areas in our lives need attention at this time.

New Moon in Gemini

New Moon in Gemini

June 12, 2010

The Sun, the Moon and Mercury are currently in the Sign of the Twins, Gemini. A lot of Gemini types appear to have their head in the clouds…up to where they belong. However, it is important for Gemini to allow their feelings to be experienced in the heart, rather than the head. The heart hath its reason, which reason knows nothing of ~Blaise Pascal. Mercury, the Winged Messenger, ruler of Gemini is busy playing tricks with our minds as we hear only what we think we know.

In other words, put your mouth in gear before you speak (unless there is room in it for your foot).

Wherever there is the Element of the Earth in the chart is the palace where Airy Gemini can ground one’s self. The Quest was not meant to be divided or defragmented into too many missing pieces of a jig saw puzzle that is often difficult to complete. The path must be carefully sought and pursued by reason and also the rhyme of instinct. The Twins sometimes scatter apart eventually to reunite in the temple of logic. Choice is another dichotomy that is experienced when the mind is riddled with confusing thoughts of what is right or what is wrong.

Social Networking is an evolution of the archetype of Mercury. People connecting and communicating more and more through the Internet. A world wide web leads us to our own technological devices to download more information. The question remains? Where is the heart in the midst of these devices. Sitting in cafes where people once gathered to share their thoughts and feelings face to face are now merely another empty face staring into cyberspace.

Media has become overloaded and our minds downloaded with a lot of negativity being reported in the news. There is just too much information at our disposal. What is the true meaning of connection. People are not machines that can organize thought processes at high-speed. We need to listen to our own inner dialogue rather than the monologue on late night television banter. The ranting and raving of our own thoughts coupled with those of others may seek distraction in the murky shadow of too much talk. This is a great time to turn off the TV and tune in to the transmission of the planet and all our relations on an organic and spiritual level. We are the center of our universe. Everything we think and do has an impact upon our selves and our immediate surroundings. If we are restless and require distraction, then perhaps we could learn to meditate while practicing deep breathing. Gemini is associated with the lungs and nervous system. Think of ways to create Positive Action, then breathe life into it. Yes, the universe exists with both positive and negative energy. We need to bring any opposing forces together through integration.

A world in black and white, hath no colour. The Light Spectrum refuses no colour.

Thoughts and ideas can travel fast like quicksilver in the archetype of the Gemini Genius. I suggest reading about his myth, and also the story of his counterparts; the Egyptian Thoth and Norse Loki.

The puer or the child in us allows us our humour and play when we experience the realm of the senses. Look at those neckties loosen up after a few cocktails at a group gathering…releasing the corporate grip on the head and allowing the Gemini social butterfly to be set free. The youthful approach to life occurs when one slips their feet into the winged messenger’s shoes. We let go and dare to be irrational as we take flight and soar like the spirit is willing to.

This is the New Moon to begin a journal. A lot of people use journals for calendars, appointments and goals. Forget the attitude and think gratitude. Start focusing on the wins, rather than the losses in your life. Whatever you do, try to do it with an open mind and an open heart…face to face…deep in the eyes of the soul’s communication.
